Sub-Saharan Africa has achieved a high level of modern contraceptive use while maintaining a high ideal number of children and Total Fertility Rate. Track20 has identified a distinct pattern in sub-Saharan Africa compared to other FP2020 countries; even when mCPR is high, the proportion of women using contraception to limit future births (as opposed to spacing) is low.
